Ice and Fire 2 is not a separate game or a sequel download. The phrase is how many players refer to the 2.x version line of Ice And Fire Mod. This guide clears up the naming, explains why a single release date is hard to pin down, and shows where to find the date for the exact file you want.

What Ice and Fire 2 refers to

Mods are versioned like software. Ice And Fire's earlier releases used 1.x numbers, and later releases for newer Minecraft versions moved to 2.x numbers. Players shortened that to Ice and Fire 2. The branch linked from our homepage download section targets Minecraft 1.18.2 and belongs to this later line.

The 2.x line is closely associated with lightning dragons, which joined fire and ice dragons as a third dragon type, along with many refinements to creatures, structures and gear.

Why there is no single release date

A search for the Ice and Fire 2 mod release date usually expects one day on the calendar. In practice the 2.x line is a series of builds released over time for several Minecraft versions, each with its own date and changelog. A build for one Minecraft version can appear well after another.

We do not publish a specific date on this site because we cannot verify one that applies to every build, and a wrong date is worse than none.

How to find the date for your build

  1. Decide which Minecraft version you want to play.
  2. Open the mod's own listing or repository and filter files by that Minecraft version.
  3. Read the upload date and changelog shown next to the specific file.
  4. For source code, check the commit history of the relevant branch, such as 1.18.2 on GitHub.

The download on this site is a branch snapshot. It reflects the branch at the moment you download it rather than a numbered release, so it has no single release date.

What players tend to notice in the 2.x line

  • A third dragon type with its own element and gear.
  • Updated structures and creature behaviour for newer Minecraft world generation.
  • Continued reliance on the Citadel library.
