Ice and Fire Community Edition is a community-maintained continuation of Ice And Fire Mod aimed at newer Minecraft versions. If you are choosing between the original and the Community Edition, the right answer depends mostly on which Minecraft version you want to play.

What the Community Edition is

Popular mods sometimes outlive the pace at which their original authors can update them. When that happens, open-source code allows other developers to carry the project forward. Ice and Fire Community Edition is one such continuation: a separate release maintained by community contributors, built from the original project's code.

It is not published by this website, and this website is not affiliated with either team.

Before you switch a world or modpack

  • Back up the world. Moving a world between versions of a large content mod can lose or alter creatures and blocks.
  • Never install both the original and the Community Edition in the same instance. They register overlapping content and will conflict.
  • Check dependencies. Library requirements and supported loaders are listed on the Community Edition's own page and may differ from the original.
  • Test in a copy first, especially on a multiplayer server where every player must use the same files.

Which one should you use?

If you want to play on Minecraft 1.18.2 or an older supported version, the original line fits, and our step-by-step install guide covers the setup. If you want Ice And Fire content on a newer Minecraft version, the Community Edition is the route to look at. Either way, match every file to one Minecraft version.
